Mary Jane Martin

1852 – 1931

Mary Jane Martin was born in July 1852 in Redruth, Cornwall.   Her parents John Martin  and Elizabeth Davy

In 1861 Mary Jane was living in Redruth, Cornwall with her parents and her family.  The occupants were:

By 1871 Mary Jane and her family had moved from Cornwall to the Isle of Man. They were living in Laxey in Lonan.  The occupants were:

Mary Jane married Richard Kelly on 27th October 1874 at the Registry Office in Whitehaven, Cumberland. The wedding was reported in the local newspaper as follows:

Kelly-Martin on the 27th instant at the register office, Whitehaven Mr Richard Kelly, iron miner to Miss Mary Jane Martin both of Frizington

In 1881, Richard and Mary were living in Griffin Row, Arlecdon, Cumberland.  The occupants were:

Richard and Mary Jane had 4 children, Richard, Mary Jane, William George and Thomas Martin.  

After Richard died in 1881, Mary Jane remarried to Alexander Linton White in July 1883 in Frizington, Cumberland.  

In 1891, Mary Jane and Alexander were living in Arlecdon, Cumberland with their family.  The occupants were:

In 1911 Mary Jane was a widow after Alexander’s death in 1905.  She was living at 13 Dyke Street Arlecdon Cumberland with some of her family.  The occupants were:

The electoral rolls for 1912, 1913-1914 and 1914-15 show that Mary Jane White was still living at 13 Dyke Street, Arlecdon, Cumberland.

Mary Jane moved to Blaydon-On-Tyne after 1915 and was stated as living at 12 Ruth Avenue on the CWGC record of her son Alexander in 1917.  

Mary Jane died in March 1931 and was buried in Blaydon Cemetery on 26 March 1931.
