Richard Kelly was born on 23 March 1851 in Lonan, Isle of Man. His parents were William Kelly and Elizabeth Helling.  Richard was baptised on 31^st March 1851 in Lonan, Isle of Man.

When the census was taken in 1851, Richard was one month old and was living in Lonan, Isle of Man with his parents and family.  The occupants were:

Richard’s mother died when he was 16 years old. 

In 1871, Richard was living with his father and stepmother, Ann, and family in Lonan, Isle of Man.  The occupants were:

Richard married Mary Jane Martin on 27^th October 1874 at the Registry Office in Whitehaven, Cumberland. The wedding was reported in the local newspaper as follows:

Kelly-Martin on the 27th instant at the register office, Whitehaven Mr Richard Kelly, iron miner to Miss Mary Jane Martin both of Frizington

In 1881, Richard and Mary were living in Griffin Row, Arlecdon, Cumberland.  The occupants were:

Richard and Mary Jane had 4 children, Richard, Mary Jane, William George and Thomas Martin.  

Richard died on 22^ndSeptember 1881 in Frizington, Cumbria.   The cause of death was Phthisis (Tuberculosis). His death certificate states he was an Ironminer living in Frizington.   His death was registered by his wife Mary Jane.

Richard was buried at St Pauls Church in Frizington, Cumberland on 25^th September 1881.
