Maternal Grandfather
John Alexander Linnell

1924 – 1981


John Alexander Linnell was born on 25th March 1924 in Little London, Silverstone, Northamptonshire.  His parents were Frederick Thomas Linnell and Ada Lucy Hall.


John served as an aircraftman in the Royal Air Force during World War 2 and was awarded the France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal



He married Winfred May Major on 7th August 1947 at Towcester Registry Office.   The witnesses were Betsy Major and Edward John Major.  At the time John was listed as a carpenter living at 2 West Street, Silverstone.




John and Winifred had three daughters, Christine May, Catherine Marion and Carolyn Mary.




John died on 12th March 1981 in Northampton General Hospital. The cause of death was mycardial infarction. His death certificate states he was a bricklayer living in Silverstone, Northamptonshire.  His death was registered by his son-in-law, Michael Lancelot Chrisp.

John was buried on 16th March 1981 in the graveyard at St Michaels Church in Silverstone.
